Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Tau Balance (“Tau Balance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our marketing website, join our waitlist, submit the contact form, or otherwise interact with pages we host on WordPress (including WP Engine).
This marketing site is separate from any future Tau Balance product application. Until the product is generally available, this policy focuses on marketing-site, waitlist, and contact-form practices. If we launch additional product features that change our practices, we will update this policy.
1. Who we are
Controller: Tau Balance. Privacy contact: privacy@taubalance.com. For a postal mailing address, email that address and we will provide it.
2. Information we collect
A. Information you provide
- Waitlist signup: email address (required); name, organization, and whether you are an individual investor or financial advisor (optional).
- Contact form: name, email address, and message (required).
- Communications: content of emails or messages you send to us.
B. Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser user agent, approximate time of visit, referring URL (captured with waitlist and contact submissions and standard server logs).
- Marketing attribution: UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign) when present in the URL you used to reach us.
- Cookies / local identifiers: see our Cookie Policy. We may set a visitor identifier cookie for site operation and (if enabled) analytics consent flows.
C. Information we do not intentionally collect on this marketing site
- We do not ask for Social Security numbers, account numbers, or full financial account credentials on the waitlist form.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
3. How we use information
- Operate the marketing website, waitlist, and contact form.
- Email you about public beta access, product updates, and related Tau Balance announcements you signed up for.
- Understand traffic sources (UTM) and improve our pages.
- Secure the site, prevent abuse/spam, and comply with law.
- Respond to your requests and support inquiries.
Legal bases (where GDPR/UK GDPR apply): consent (waitlist emails; optional analytics), legitimate interests (site security, basic operations, responding to you), and legal obligation where required.
4. Where waitlist and contact data is stored
Waitlist and contact-form submissions are stored in the WordPress database hosted with our website host (WP Engine) in the United States (or other regions WP Engine uses for that environment). They are not automatically sent to a separate Tau Balance product application database while this marketing site runs in stand-alone mode. Waitlist and contact-form notifications may be emailed to our internal team.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only with:
- Service providers / processors: website hosting (WP Engine), email delivery (if we use a provider to send waitlist, contact-form, or transactional mail), security/CDN, and similar vendors who process data on our instructions.
- Legal / safety: when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality.
If Google Analytics or advertising tools are enabled, we update this policy and (where required) request consent before non-essential cookies run. Operators configure GA4 under Appearance → Analytics.
6. Retention
We keep waitlist and contact-form records until you ask us to delete them, you unsubscribe and we no longer need the record for suppression, or we determine the program has ended and residual records are no longer needed (typically up to 36 months after last relevant contact, unless a longer period is required for legal claims or compliance).
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to a marketing site (including HTTPS and host security controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to / restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent.
To exercise rights related to the waitlist, contact form, or this site, email privacy@taubalance.com from the address you used to sign up (or include that address). We may need to verify your request. We aim to respond within 45 days (or sooner where law requires).
9. California (CCPA/CPRA) notice
If you are a California resident:
- Categories collected: identifiers (email, name); commercial / interest info (investor vs advisor); internet activity (IP, user agent, referrer, UTMs); customer content (contact-form message); inferences limited to waitlist interest type you select.
- Purposes: as listed in Section 3.
- Sale / share: We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising on this marketing site as currently configured. If that changes, we will provide a “Do Not Sell or Share” mechanism and update this policy.
- Rights: know/access, delete, correct, and non-discrimination for exercising CCPA rights. Contact privacy@taubalance.com. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out of sale/share when such activity exists.
10. International visitors
If you access the site from outside the United States, you understand information may be processed in the U.S. (and other locations used by our providers), which may have different data-protection laws than your country.
11. Children
The site is not directed to children under 16. If you believe we collected a child’s information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice on the site or by email where appropriate.
